Illinois transfer Adam Miller may have the most upside of any player on this list. If he can develop more of a three-point shot he will become an All-SEC player as a junior. Still, Brooks averaged 10.3 points and 6.8 rebounds per game after returning to the lineup and was the best player at times for Kentucky. Keion Brooks missed the first nine games of the season with a lower leg injury that also cut his offseason short. However, the most important piece may already be in the facility. Fourth Pick (Brandon): Keion BrooksĪll of the focus is on guard play and who Coach Calipari will add to next season’s roster. Mintz is a sure thing and that’s what UK needs after last season’s rampant inconsistency. Mintz was a sharpshooting bright spot during the worst year in school history, and if he was able to be productive on that team, imagine how impactful he could be as a sixth-year senior leader on a more well-rounded group in 2022. Cal has already brought in several experienced transfers and will add more, but I like having a guy who has experience at Kentucky. Third Pick (Alex): Davion MintzĪside from Carr, I’d rather have Mintz back over getting anyone else. Coach Calipari absolutely has to add a point guard in this class, whether it be via the transfer portal or from high school, and TyTy Washington is as good as anyone left out there. I think that he is a guy who will come in and outperform his recruiting ranking from day one. Washington is a true point guard and has some serious alpha dog to his demeanor on the court. Just yesterday I ranked Mac McClung ahead of TyTy Washington in my updated recruiting priorities for UK, but something in the war room swayed me to take the high school point guard here. He’s the best point guard on the market and should be maximized under Calipari. Instead, look at his junior year numbers: 15 points, 6 assists and 5 rebounds a game while shooting 36% from three playing next to more talent than he had in ’21. He did shoot under 40% from the field last season and wasn’t great from three on high volume, but he won’t be forced to completely control the offense under Calipari like he was in Minnesota. He’s quick with the ball, a proven scorer, and capable of averaging 6+ assists per game. It does not store any personal data.Carr is exactly what Kentucky lacked last season and needs in 2022: a talented, true point guard.
